Do You Really Need to Wash Your Face in the Morning?
This is a great question and the answer definitely comes with some variating views (and a loaded answer).
It depends….Ask yourself questions like, “do I wash my face at night?” “Do I tend to have acne prone skin?” “Am I using an anti-aging cleaner or sensitive cleanser at night?”
If you don’t have a nighttime skincare routine then I definitely suggest washing your face in the morning (nighttime preferred). If you have a solid nighttime routine, then I rinse with water and a wipe down with a clean towel is perfectly acceptable.
If you have acne prone skin, I would definitely suggest a very gentle cleanser in the morning as well as at night. Keeping the skin free from building up bacteria is a must for skin that tends to have breakouts.
If you are someone battling the signs of aging, product is a proven way to reduce and reverse damage to the skin, so a cleanser continues to offer those ingredients that keep the dead skin cells moving.
If you’re someone with a great overall skincare routine, you’re not noticing a lot of aging issues and you don’t tend to break out, then washing your face with a cleanser in the morning isn’t a definite “No-No”. Try adding it in a few times a week to get that glow!
Be aware of what your skin is telling you, if it’s too dry, too oily, had a reaction to a certain product, looks better after another product. Staying tuned in to your skin’s need is key.
I tend to use a cleanser in the morning a few times a week, I’m not an every morning cleanser type. Why? Because I have a very solid nighttime skincare routine, using an anti-aging cleanser (which is what I love) every morning, my skin begins to get too dry and then I have bigger issues…i.e. breakouts, flakey skin etc….
