How Often Should I Wash My Hair?

How Often Should I Wash My Hair?

This question comes up a lot, how often should I be washing my hair? The general rule of thumb to follow is to wash your hair every other day. Giving your body enough time to release its natural oils that condition and nourish your hair and scalp. Washing everyday can strip away those oils and leave your scalp dry and your hair dull.

If you start washing your hair every other day you might notice at first your hair seems too oily, but if you keep up with the regimen your body will regulate itself and the natural oils released won’t be so overpowering.

Brushing those oils from the scalp down through your hair is a great way to naturally condition your locks! It’s highly recommended to keep the movement of oils by brushing regularly, if your hair doesn’t respond well to brushing, try using your finger tips to massage and work those natural oils into the rest of your hair.

Once you get down to every other day, you may notice from there that you can push it to every two days or even every three days! It becomes a learning process with your own body’s needs and ability to regulate the natural release of oils.

In general, if your scalp becomes itchy and even flakey, it’s definitely time to give it a good cleanse and then start the process over again.

One last tip! As much as possible, let your hair dry naturally, I know for some this is less than ideal, but on those off days give it a try! Your hair will thank you!
