Candle Care
Guide

Every BellaVee candle is hand-poured with intention. A little care goes a long way toward a clean, safe, and long-lasting burn.

🕯️

Learn how to properly care for your BellaVee wooden wick candle to enjoy a longer, cleaner burn. These simple candle care tips will help prevent tunneling, maximize burn time, and help your crystal candle burn beautifully from the first light to the last.

🕯️
Before Your First Burn
  • Trim your wooden wick to 1/8–3/16" before lighting.
  • Burn for 2–4 hours on the first burn to establish a full melt pool.
  • Allow a full melt pool to form edge to edge — this prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.

While Burning
  • Never leave unattended. Always burn within sight.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Burn on a heat-safe surface away from flammable materials.
  • Avoid drafts — fans, vents, and open windows can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering.
  • Keep wax free of debris including wick trimmings, matches, and crystals that have fallen in.

Wooden Wick Tips
  • If the flame is low — extinguish the candle, allow the wax to cool, trim the wick, and relight.
  • A soft crackling sound is normal and part of the wooden wick experience.
  • Slight mushrooming or carbon buildup can occur at the tip of the wick — trim before each burn for best results.
💎
Crystal Removal

As your candle burns, the crystals infused within the wax will gradually reveal themselves. Allow the wax to cool completely before removing them.

Once cool, gently remove the crystal or crystal chips and rinse away any remaining wax with warm water and mild soap. Keep it as a keepsake — a reminder of the intention you set when you lit this candle.

Every BellaVee crystal is intentionally paired with its scent to support a specific ritual, energy, or intention. Keep it as a reminder of what you called into your life.

When to Stop Burning
🕯️

Stop burning when ½" of wax remains. Burning beyond this point can cause the vessel to overheat. Discontinue use and repurpose the vessel — it was made to be reused.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I trim my wooden wick?
Before every burn. Trimming removes carbon buildup and ensures a clean, steady flame. A well-trimmed wick is the single most important factor in how your candle performs.
Why won't my wooden wick stay lit?
Wooden wicks work best when trimmed short — about 1/8". If the flame keeps going out, let the wax cool completely, trim away any charred wood until you reach fresh wood, and relight. A wick that's too long is the most common reason a wooden wick won't stay lit.
Can I reuse the vessel?
Yes — and we encourage it. Once your candle is finished, pour very hot (not boiling) water into the vessel to soften the remaining wax. Once cooled, remove the wax and wash with warm soapy water. Repurpose it as a planter, pen holder, bathroom organizer, or keepsake container. Your vessel was made to last long after the candle is gone.
